The lavender is a very smelling, aromatic shrub plant which has adapted itself to dry locations with low ground water and precipitation. The plant growing up to 100 cm with the Latin name Lavendula angstifolia prefers locations with steady and strong solar irradiation. Also in Germany the lavender is found as an ornamental plant in home gardens, however, an intensive economic use does not take place, because the weather terms on a productive cultivation are not optimum. There exist about 25 different lavender kinds, the hybrid who are called Lavandin also belong to these. Lavandin is grown for cost reasons instead of the real lavender and serves as a base for inexpensive essence and oils, the known smell of the lavender is trained with the hybrid, however, more substantially more weakly. The hybrid are more humble, cheaper to increase and to maintain lighter, than the real lavender.
